Niger State Commissioner of Lands and Housing, Barrister Mukhtar Nasale, has formally inaugurated a nine-man trace and tracking committee constituted by the Ministry.

Speaking at the occasion, the commissioner, who initiated and sets up the committee christened ‘Files Integrity Monitoring Team’ said that the committee members were drawn from Niger State Housing Corporation, Niger State Geographic Information System, and Niger State Urban Development Board.

Barrister Nasale disclosed that he constituted the team on assumption of office with a view to trace, follow and ensure prompt response to mails and memos of the ministry. According to him, the committee members are expected to maintain constant watch over the movement of files at their respective departments and agencies for quick decision making process and to control loss or damage of important government files.

The commissioner, however, listed other mandates of the committee to include, checking of the current position of files, management and record keeping in the ministry and her sister agencies; develop a professional standard and coordinate the movement of files and memos with the sister agencies, establish control over file management in the ministry.

Other mandates given to the team according to him are to report any case or breach of the laid down rules and regulations of file management to the committee, ensure safety, confidentiality of administrative files and records containing personal, sensitive or confidential information; conduct weekly file record audit to ascertain the position of files and respond to directives among others.

Responding, the chairman of the committee, Mr.Paul Lawrence thanked the commissioner and the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Abdul Hussaini for considering them worthy to serve in this all-important committee, while assuring the commissioner that the team headed by him will work hard to ensure the delivery of the mandate given to them.

The committee chairman who is the director of administration in the ministry said that the committee will not let down the expectations of the ministry and pledged to be fair and transparent in the discharge of their duties.
