Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has called for the support of the citizenry to surmount the security challenges been faced by the state and the country at large, by consciously choosing to live together in peace.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Alh Ahmed Mohammed Ketso made the call in Minna at the book launch titled “Engineer, Abdullahi Isah Jankara, A Patron of Peace with Audacity of Philanthropy.”

He said the Peace, Unity and Security Colloquium was coming at a time in our polity like we have never witnessed before, adding that, at a time when the combination of global pandemic, covid-19 which had adversely affected the ability of governments to perform their statutory responsibility to their people caused by economic disruptions and increased spate of banditry, kidnapping and general insecurity.

“It is my hope that this Colloquium will produce a critical mass of knowledge that will encourage the need for peace and a corporate guide on evidence based approach to peace and security challenges in Nigeria,” the governor prayed.

 Earlier in her address, “Brief on the Subject Matter” by the Colloquium Coordinator/Convener, Prof. Casmiar Obialom, who is also the Secretary General, International Peace Foundation (IPF), asserted that, promoting peace, unity and security was everybody’s concern, as no meaningful development would take place in the absence of the three variables.

She said Engineer Abdullahi Isah Jankara, the Operations Controller, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) , was a man worthy of emulation, been a celebrated philanthropist who had promoted peace, unity and security through philanthropy.
