The management of Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI),  has called on all the state governments across the country to take advantage of its facilities and expertise to bring and sponsor selected youths from their various states for skills acquisition training at the institute.

 Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SEDI. Engr. professor Mohammed Baba Ndaliman made this call in his address delivered on the occasion of the institute;s special Day held on Tuesday at the ongoing 18th Niger National Trade Fair organized by NCCIMA, holding at the Permanent Trade Fair Complex Minna.

 Professor Ndaliman said that the institute under his management was ready to assist states in offering training for their youths in the following areas of skills acquisition such as glass blowing, plastic making, wood making, machining and metal fabrication.

According to him, the training to be conducted for selected youths from the states by the institute was aimed to address the problems of unemployment and youth restiveness in the country.

 The managing director/CEO disclosed further that it is his fervent belief that the training opportunity to be offered would give hope to the youths and make them responsible members of the society.

He however revealed that the institute under his supervision has provided consultancy services to Kano and Nassarawa state governments in their plan to establish glass blowing centres which he said was aimed at providing gainful employment for the teeming youths.

Ndaliman further applauded Niger state government for creating enabling environment for business to strive in the state, however called on investors and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the institute’s facilities as well as the state government of the offer to come to the state and explore the available resources including the rice technical know .how of the institute to scale up the mass production of some of the developed products for commercialization purposes.

In his welcome address at the occasion, NCCIMA President, Dr Abdulkadir Baba Hassan appreciated the efforts of SEDI Management for its continues partnership and collaboration with the chamber especially for identifying its presence at the trade fair always pointing out that it has added a lot of values to the organization of the Niger Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture activities in the state over the years as many investors and entrepreneurs were attracted to the fair by the institute’s participation, he then urged the management to strive hard to make sure that all developed facilities produced are duly registered with relevant authorities for certification to enable it export them. 

 State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Dr Mustapha Mohammed Jibril while declaring the SEDI special Day open, reaffirmed the present administration;s commitment to partner with the management of the institute in area of technological development.

Dr Mustapha said that the state government is interested to collaborate with SEDI in education, health, agriculture and fishery saying this would add impetus to the economy of the state as well as enhancing the teaching of science subjects in secondary schools and also to strengthen health facilities across the state.
