Emmanuel Apa has won three gold medals for Niger State at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Benin, the Edo State capital.

Apa beats other contestants in the 61kg of Snatch weightlifting category at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Samuel Ogbomudia Stadium, Benin.

He went on to clinch other gold medals in the 115kg snatch and 142kg clean and jerk.

Apa who was a cynosure of all eyes to the spectators suffered a strain while lifting the 142kg but emerged victorious in his category.

In athletics, Stephen Eliji won a bronze medal in the 400 metres hurdle, Salihu Dantsoho missed the medal in the javelin as he finished 4th in the final.

Team Niger has so far clinched three gold, one silver and three bronze medals. 

Action will continue today as Team Niger chases glory in Scrabble, Chess, athletics and other sports.
