Executive Secretary, Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alh. Umar Makun Lapai

Pilgrims from Niger State are to receive their 32kg bags tomorrow (Saturday) and will be accompanied by the 200 Saudi Riyals which governor Abubakar Sani Bello graciously granted to all the pilgrims from the 25 LGAs, government sponsored inclusive.
Executive Secretary, Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alh. Umar Makun Lapai made this known during an interactive session with the Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers from the 25 LGAs, the Amirul Hajj team and the board’s management team in Makkah, yesterday.
He said that pilgrims of first, second and third flights will collect theirs on Saturday, adding that out of the N1.5m Hajj fare paid by respective pilgrims, only N244, 800 was been handled by the board for the purpose of Yellow card, bags, and uniforms, the balance was transmitted to NAHCON.
The executive secretary gave gratitude to God for the success story of the Hajj exercise saying that the APWOs have contributed greatly towards achieving the feat, he also affirmed that movement of pilgrims from Makkah- Muna- Arafat- Muzdalifa-Jamarah and back to Makkah recorded no casualty, though some challenges cropped up in the area of feeding during pilgrims stay in Muna-, which after the visit of NAHCON officials to the Niger State tent, have directed that complaints should be submitted in writing to the commission for onward refund of all shortcomings or services not rendered.
Alh. Makun further explained that out of the 20 buses requested, the service provider jacked up the number to 25 for smooth operations. He said that Niger State government had secured enough accommodation with extra bed spaces in Makkah.
The executive secretary then directed the quality assurance committee under the leadership of Muhammed Adamu Soja, who is also the chief internal auditor of the board, to submit their report/recommendations after thorough investigation, monitoring and proper scrutiny, in all areas of feeding, transportation and accommodation, for onward transmission in order to have value for money.
He then appealed to the Amirul Hajj team to accommodate any shortcoming observed on the part of the board.
The ES also used the forum to thank the Amirul Hajj team for their perseverance and cooperation extended to the board’s management team.
