Inuwa Fuka Yusuf

Inuwa Fuka Yusuf, 47, chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council in Niger State, has been honoured with Merit Award of Excellence by Evergreen African Leadership Award for his humanitarianism and excellent conduct and performance in public office. The award, which was conferred on him by Mr Segun Olayemi, leader of the delegation from Evergreen African Leadership Award, came on the heels of a Merit Award recently conferred on him by Mentors Communication Ltd. Previously, in 2011, he had been recognized by the National Association of Niger State Students (NANISS) with Infinity Merit Award as Champion of Democracy.  Before the state government contracted the NLC to screen and audit local government staff in the 25 LG councils in the state, the chairman had conducted an independent, courageous audit of the nominal role to free it of ghost workers and parasites who milk it of resources for development, a hugely successful exercise that was a model for his peers in the state. An outstanding democrat and leader, he was a successful business mogul and community activist before his election into office last year. He ran Of yelagi Petroleum Resources as a director and led the Chanchaga Local Government Elders’ Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before he came into office. A teacher by training, he graduated from Niger State College of Education (1992-1995) and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (2003-2006), with National Certificate in Education and B.A (Ed) respectively. He also holds a professional certificate in material soil and quality control. In his formative years, he studied at Sultan Ward Primary School, Sokoto, and Government Day Secondary School, Minna. He is married and blessed with seven children. Countries visited: Benin Republic, Niger Republic, and Saudi Arabia. His hobbies are reading, travelling, and sports.
