Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello

The Niger State Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello has lamented the poor flow of funds from federation account to the state since assumption of office last year.

The governor expressed this when he received the Buhari Support Organization, Minna Multipurpose Traders Union, APC canvassers, and NURTW that paid him solidarity visit to mark one year of his administration at the  Government  House, Minna,Tuesday.

Governor Abubakar said,  “sincerely speaking, since I assumed office as the Governor of Niger State in May last year to may 2016, the highest monthly Federal Allocation  received was N2.2 billion, which is very meager to cater  for  the payment of salary and other state issues.

This is why we can only pay salary, and the real fact is, running the affairs of government is beyond paying salary.  But we are looking at the way forward to tackle the situation rightly and squarely.”

He added, that “since inception as the governor of the state, the federal government in the past three months deducts N 600 million which is the bond loan taken by the PDP government from source.”

“But my question is, where are the billions of naira given to the previous administration Which nothing worthy has been done to the state to benefit?”

Governor Abubakar Bello said, “the money we are now using to do over 30 projects in the state was gotten from the little savings I made, by reducing the costs of running the government”.

He then assured the masses in the state of his support towards providing empowerment schemes in various sectors to benefit the teeming youths and women.

Speaking earlier on behalf of the various organizations, chairman of Buhari Support Organization in Niger State, Alh. Umar Shu’aibu said, “indeed, we are glad with the efforts of the present administration of APC under the leadership of Abubakar Sani Bello in ensuring peaceful co-existence and creating employment to solve youth restiveness in the state”.

Also, the secretary of the state council of NURTW, Comrade Abubakar Arikadai said, “embarking on the rehabilitation of roads in the state by the APC government will go a long way to saving lives and properties of people in and around the state.

He then pleaded with the governor to provide the NURTW with accessible loans to enable them purchase new vehicles to give to their members for empowerment.

Shortly after the solidarity visit, the state Acting Chairman of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, Niger State branch, Mal. Abubakar Umar said, “we appreciate the kind gesture shown to us by the APC- led administration in the state in various sectors, most especially the transport sector.”

Because it has brought about giving self-employment to numerous masses in and outside the state as such. We hope this will continue to reduce economic problems in the country if boosted by the government.

He  urged the governor to provide more tricycles to  members and the people as loan that would enable them to pay back easily.

Before the solidarity visit to the state governor, the groups led by their leaders held a solidarity rally in the morning around Minna major roads, which started from 123 quarters field and ended at the Government House peacefully, under the watch of police and other security agencies.
