Bosso and Shiroro Local Government areas of Niger State will battle to win the coveted Talba Unity Cup competition, organized for youth clubs in Niger East senatorial district.

A total of 403 teams participated at the tournament, which was organized as part of efforts to drum support for the senatorial ambition of Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
The finals, to be played at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium, Minna, will first see Paiko and Gurara slug it out for the third place.
The Co-odinator of the tournament, Hon. Danjuma Masu, said that the tournament had lived up to expectation, which partly was to keep the youths informed about the real issues in the polity.
Hon Masu said that nine winners that emerged at the LGA levels have been rewarded with different gifts, among them balls and jerseys.
He explained that a giant trophy would be given to the overall winner, while the runners-up will also receive consolation prizes, which also include cash rewards.
He commended the LGAs for participating in the tourney and for supporting the candidature of Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of the Peoples Democratic Party to contest for the senatorial election.
According to him, the governor was a youth-oriented person and would, if elected, add to sports development, both at the national and state levels.
He promised that since the political campaign has subsided a date for the finals will soon be made public.
