Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board and intending pilgrims, have accepted the cancellation of this year’s Hajj by Saudi authorities as an act of God.

Reacting to the cancellation, Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai, explained that the board has been formally informed of the cancellation of this year’s hajj.

While addressing management and staff of the board, Makun said the obvious reason for the cancellation was as a result of Covid-19 pandemic that was still ravaging some parts of the world.

 He commended the entire staff of the board, Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOs) and board members for their commitment, perseverance and transparency in the discharge of their official duties.

He further appreciated the intending pilgrims for their patience and understanding.

Alh Makun also assured the pilgrims of the board’s readiness to make 100% refund to anyone who wants his money as it was done in 2020.

He therefore appealed to them to exercise patience as the board awaits further instructions from National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON, on modalities to be adopted.

He assured the government and the public of the board’s readiness to improve on the quality of services rendered to the pilgrims in order to enable them have value for their money, and urged the staff to put everything into prayers.
