Niger State Government has congratulates the good people of the state over the celebration of this year’s democracy day and for their resilience in ensuring the success of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.

A statement issued by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Idris expressed delight over yet another democracy day celebration in the life of the present leadership in the state, despite many security challenges and scarce resources.

He noted that the understanding of the people and their continuous prayers have contributed to peaceful coexistence and progress of the state.

According to him, despite the numerous challenges confronting the state, the present administration had remained focused and resolute in the provision of dividends of democracy to its people and urges the citizens to continue to remain peaceful and law abiding.

The commissioner pointed out that the present administration in the state will continue to make the protection of lives and properties as  its topmost priority, stressing that, ‘”the security challenges facing the state will soon be over in view of the tactical measures been put in place’, he added.

Alhaji Idris explained that this year’s democracy day concides with the sixth year anniversary of the administration of Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello as Governor of Niger state which has executed projects that have direct bearing on the masses.

He then appealed to all residents in the state to use the occasion to remain calm and continued to pray in ensuring that the state the overcome the present challenges.


In another development; the Niger State Government has announced the banning of all forms of processions across the state.

A statement issued by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, stated that the ban was with immediate effect.

According to the SSG, the decision to ban all forms of processions was as a result of the security situation in the state.

He disclosed that government has directed security agencies to ensure enforcement and deal with any person, group or organisation that violates this order.

Ahmed Matane advised members of the public to adhere strictly to the directive by being law abiding and live peacefully with one another.
