Niger State Government has declared total its commitment to the completion of Suleja International Market, Suleja. 

The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane made the disclosure shortly after he undertook on the spot assessment of construction of Suleja International Market and Madalla Market. 

Matane who was marveled at the scope of work expressed optimism that when completed, the Suleja International Market would totally transform not only the economy of Suleja but the State as a whole.  

He stated that the government is pushing for the completion of both Suleja International Market and Madalla Market because of their value addition to the State’s economy. 

The Suleja Internal Market which is situated on 178 hectres of land consists of the terminal building, warehouses, administrative block, restaurant, motel, and building materials, the SSG said. 

Ahmed Matane also revealed that government would expedite action towards the completion of the new Madalla Market because of the hazardous location of the present market, stressing that when the new market is completed it will increase the internal revenue of the state. 

The SSG enjoined the contractors handling the two projects to deploy more equipment and manpower to ensure speedy completion of the jobs.

In their separate remarks, the contractors assured the SSG that necessary equipment will be deployed to reach expected milestones. 

Ahmed Matane was accompanied by the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, Dr. Mustapha Jibrin, and Commissioner of Environment, Barr. Mohammed Tanko Zakari. 

Others include the Permanent Secretary, Economic Affairs, Yahaya Babawachiko, Permanent Secretary, Trade, Commerce and Investment, Hussaini Ahmed, Chairman, Suleja Local Government Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Maje, and other top Government functionaries.
