Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai, Executive Secretary, Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board

New executive secretary of the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board has assumed office.

 He is Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai who has been in acting capacity for some time 

The new executive Secretary was received in his office at the old Secretariat complex by the management and staff of the board.

 Speaking at a brief reception organised for him by staff of the board, Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai called for cooperation and support from the management and staff.

 He said having been with the board for a long period, he would operate an open door policy where every staff would be carried along.

The executive secretary urged the staff to carry out their duties with all seriousness adding that no one would be left behind in the scheme of things.

 On this year’s Hajj, Alh. Makun cautioned that no staff should divulge any information that is not from official channel.

He pointed out that the only channel of official communication is from the National Hajj commission, Abuja adding that the state Pilgrims welfare board would abide by any directive from the commission.

The executive secretary said registration of Pilgrims for this year’s  Hajj is still on going adding that intending Pilgrims should  take advantage of the exercise to avoid last minute rush.

On COVID-19, the executive secretary urged the staff of the board to abide by all the measures put in place by government to curtail the spread of Coronavirus pandemic including wearing of face masks, washing of hands with soap under running water or use of alcoholic based sanitizer and physical distancing.

 Alh. Makun Lapai thanked governor Abubakar Sani Bello for finding him worthy to be appointed as executive secretary of the board adding that he would do all within his power not to betray the confidence reposed on him.

He prayed Allah to bring an end to the scourge of COVID-19.

In his welcome address, the director operations of the board, Alh. Attahiru Bala Dukku pledged the support and cooperation of the management and staff to ensure the successful tenure of the executive secretary.

 The director then prays Allah to bring an end to COVID-19 pandemic and urged all the staff to comply with the measures put in place by the government to curtail the spread of the disease.
