The Niger State Police Command will descend heavily on parents whose wards are found to be involved in any act of political thuggery during the re-run election of the member of the state House of Assembly, Agwara Constituency slated for tomorrow, Saturday, 25th January, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Alh.  Adamu Usman has warned.

He said the command will not spare any parent that allows his ward to engaging in act of political thuggery during the re-run election in the area warning that the security personnel will deal decisively with any person or group that indulge in any act capable of undermining the peaceful conduct of the election as the Police will not be cowed in apprehending and prosecuting the culprits as done in the last local government election in the state.

Addressing Area Commandants and Divisional Police officers of the state Police Command at the Police officers’ mess in Minna, CP Adamu Usman disclosed that the command has already mapped out strategies toward the smooth and peaceful conduct of the re-run election in Agwara Constituency assuring that his men are prepared to ensure crises and hitch-free election.

The police boss said that the meeting was aimed at re-evaluating the 2019 General Elections and the state Local Government Elections in order to address some security challenges faced during the said elections with a view to providing water tight security in the  forth-coming re-run election.

“Even though, the command has succeeded in providing security for electoral process as evident in the two elections, we shall not relent in redoubling our efforts to ensure a hitch-free re-run House of Assembly election in Agwara Local Government.”

“I will like to also crave your indulgence as usual to call on people of Agwara Local Government Area, to ensure peace in the forth-coming re-run election.

He then call on contestants to play the game by the rules as the Police will not relent in enforcing the provision of the Electoral Act and Niger State Anti-thuggery Law against sponsors of political violence.
