Governor Abubakar Sani Bello laying wreath to mark the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Niger State Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello has appealed to the military as well as other security agencies to continue to do their best in the provision of security for the safety of lives and properties of the people.

Governor Bello made the appeal at the 2020 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration and Wreath-laying Ceremony in Minna, the state capital. 

The governor who noted that the military has been overstretched and overwhelmed due to the size of the state added that they have been doing their best by ensuring the existence of peace and security in the state, adding that the state government has been working closely with the military to ensure the safety of the people.

“The military has been doing its best; they are overstretched and overwhelmed due to the size of the state.”

“We will keep appealing to them to do their best.”

“We have been in close contact with them and they are doing their best”.

“It has not been easy for them because of the size of the state and shortage of manpower”, he said.

While assuring them of state government continuous support, the governor said that the welfare of the military was never enough, stressing that the government on its own part will do everything possible to support them by providing them with basic and necessary logistics to operate.

The high point of the ceremony was prayers for the souls of the fallen heroes from the Christian and Muslim faith, gun salute, the release of pigeons to symbolize peace in the state as well as the country and the laying of the wreath by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Barr. Abdullahi Bawa Wuse, Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alh.  Yahaya Abubakar, Chairman, Nigeria Legion, Niger State Chapter, Alh. Abubakar Musa Kutigi and representatives of the widows of the fallen heroes, Hajiya Fati Abubakar amongst others
