Over sixty billion naira will be expended on the dualization of Minna-Bida road to cushion the hardship of motorists plying the road, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development in Niger State, Engr Ibrahim Mohammed Panti has disclosed.                                       

The Commissioner who disclosed this to Newsmen in an interview revealed that the amount would be sourced from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), as loan.                                                 He said that the dualization of the road would include the construction of toll gates along the two roads for the repayment of the loan.                                      

According to the commissioner, the dualliazation of the road would commence by January, while the necessary documents for the project has already been put in place by Governor Abubakar Bello.                                                            

He explained that the state government was committed to see to the  speedy completion of the road in order to ease the problems been faced by motorists stating that during the construction work, the security agencies will be mobilized to enforce the total compliance of heavy duty vehicles plying the road.                         

He explained that the management of the port authority was responsible to the damages of most of the federal roads across the country for their refusal to comply with the specific tones of loads to be carried by the heavy duty vehicles that had subjected most of the roads to its sordid state.                         

The commissioner commended the governor for his foresight in the dualisation of the road assuring that the construction will commence by January next year.
