Niger State Commissioner of Finance, Alh. Abubakar Zakari has said that the state government will expedite action on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Minna-Bida Road in order to end the hardship that commuters were going through.


Alh. Zakari stated this when he received a delegation from the Bida Forum led by its chairman, Dr. Umar M. Saganuwan during a courtesy call in his office, Tuesday.

Alh. Zakari said that already Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has given marching orders to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) in the state to ensure they complete all their ongoing projects and programmes within 15 months.

He stressed that the government was ready to rehabilitate all the roads across the state, pointing out that most importantly, the Minna-Bida Road because of its peculiar nature of linking South-Western Nigeria with Northern Nigeria.

The commissioner added the government under the leadership of Governor Sani Bello will not relent as it was planning to open a bypass road from Bida to Baddegi so as to improve the socio-economic activities of the people in the area.

According to him, government will continue to interact with stakeholders in order to synergise and strengthen service delivery to the people.

The commissioner urged the citizens to continue to support the present administration so as to move the state to the desired next level of development.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the Bida Forum, Dr. Sanganuwan said that they were in the ministry to congratulate the commissioner on his recent reappointment as the commissioner of Finance.

He called on them to give the Minna-Bida Road priority attention as it has become a matter of concern to the citizens of the state, adding that the road infrastructures in the state were in a deplorable condition and the needful should be done urgently.
