land_in_nigeria_large The Niger State Government has taken measures to end the lingering border crisis involving Kontagora and Bida emirates.

The secretary of the Special Boundary Sub Committee on the two Local Governments in the border dispute, Dr Abdul Husaini who is also the Permanent Secretary Lands, disclosed this in a press release signed and made available to Newsline. He said Governor Abubakar Sani Bello recently set up the committee and mandated them to resolve all land disputes within the communities bordering the local governments.

Dr Hussaini said that former head of service, Barr Abbas Bello is the chairman; Hamza Khalid is the assistant secretary, while two traditional title holders each from the affected local governments are members.

According to the committee’s scribe, they have swung into action by sensitizing the people on the nature of their work.

He added that they have visited the Etsu Nupe, Alh Yahaya Abubakar, and Mai Sudan, Alh Sa’idu Namaska to seek for their royal blessings.

The secretary added that they have visited some of the affected communities including Ibbi, Kanya, and Danko where they interacted with the village heads and other stakeholders.

He appealed for support and cooperation of people in the affected areas assuring them that at the end of the exercise, lasting peace and normalcy will return to them and appreciated the cooperation they received from the communities they have so far visited.
