Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor of Niger State, Mrs. Mary Noel-Berje

The newly appointed Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State, Mrs. Mary Noel-Berje has said that she will involve all best practices and strategies in the discharge of her duties.
Mrs. Mary disclosed this when she received the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State council when they paid her a courtesy visit to congratulate her on her recent appointment as the CPS at the Government House, Minna, Monday.
She assured the NUJ that she will run an open door policy to all journalists in the discharge of her duties, promising that she will carry along the media houses in the state both the print, electronic and online media.
According to her, she want all the media houses to be effective in the discharge of their responsibilities, hence there was the need that everyone come together and work with sincerity of purpose.
She added that to propagate the activities of the state properly, there was the need for journalists to put their house in order and work together with one heart.
The first woman to be appointed as the CPS to the governor in the state said that she was overwhelmed with the love and support shown to her since she assumed office, saying that for the NUJ to be the first to pay her a courtesy visit has shown that she is home and fully accepted by her immediate constituency.
The CPS expressed her gratitude to the NUJ both at the national and state level for giving every opportunity that as today, culminated into her appointment as the CPS, assuring that her new status has not in any way changed from being a journalist.
She thanked the governor for finding her worthy for the job amidst several others who might have jostled for the position as well as several other individuals that played towards her appointment, describing it as an act of God as she least expected it.
The CPS assured her colleagues that she will never turn her back against them especially when it comes to their welfare and other issues and will continue to tap on the wealth of their experiences in order for her to succeed.
Earlier, the NUJ state council chairman, Comrade Abdu Idris appreciated Governor Bello for finding one of their own immediate members worthy for the job as it was a remarkable feat.
Idris said that Mrs. Mary appointment was apt as she was coming with wealth of experience from being a one-time Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Minna correspondent at government house and was already familiar with the intrigues of the job and as such she will bring her experience to bear.
The chairman assured the CPS of the council’s support so that she carries out her work diligently, advising her to carry all chapels in the state along.
He described the new CPS as a hardworking journalist as she was part of the state council’s union working committee.
The chairman told the CPS that the council will continue to seek for the support of the government especially in areas of training and the retraining of journalists and other programmes that will enhance journalists’ performance.
Mrs Mary was until her appointment a staff with NTA Minna and the same time the chairperson of the Nigeria Women of Journalists (NAWOJ), Niger State chapter.
