Niger State Government is to institute the whistle-blowing policy in order to end the activities of syndicate involved in salary fraud in the state civil service.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello disclosed this during his inauguration as the state executive governor for the second term at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna.

Governor Bello said the effort by his administration to get a clean state of the wage bill in the past four years has not been successful due to the activities of some criminal elements in the civil service who were bent on stealing legal earnings of others.

“We will not tolerate anyone short-changing any civil servant. Therefore, we will institute the whistle-blowing-policy where anyone with useful information that would lead to uncovering the salary cartel and their shady deals would be handsomely rewarded and you can be assured of your protection.

“We will rid the public service of dead wood, block leakages in recurrent spending, strengthen our fiscal management and procurement frameworks and enthrone transparency and accountability at all levels through institutional reforms and automation,” he said.

He appreciated the role of the civil servants towards the building of the state as well as their understanding and support, urging to join him in building a state of their shared dream.

The governor assured that his administration will make the necessary sacrifice in sharing the burden and joy of the socio-economic transformation of the state.

He assured that he will intensify cordial relationship between the judicial and the legislative arms of government as democratic governance was all about collective responsibility while pledging to solidify his administration inter-governmental relationship with the Federal Government in order to get more benefits of the government at the centre.
