Provost of the Federal College of Education, FCE Kontagora, Prof. Faruq Haruna Rasheed

New Provost of the Federal College of Education, FCE Kontagora, Prof. Faruq Haruna Rasheed has said that his vision was to make the College not one of the best but the best in Nigeria.
The Provost who stated this while taking over the mantle of leadership of the college as the 11th Provost of the college, also stated that his mission was to achieve, promote and sustain exceptional academic, administrative and welfare standard for the college within the resources available to the college.
He said to achieve these, all members of the college community must renew their commitment to the college’s vision, noting that the expectations of the college community were high and that he will not disappoint them.
Prof. Faruq observed that the task of taking the college to the next level was enormous but that with the support of all it will be a success story at the end of the day, adding that in trying to be the best, they must think out of the box and be creative, as well as demonstrate that they are accountable.
He said that there are challenges and opportunities and as such they will not allow the challenges to be a clog on their wheel of progress, adding that they will not allow the challenges to be excuses for not achieving their aim.
Prof. Faruq also promised to explore all the partnership opportunities available both within and outside the country, particularly in the areas of transfer of knowledge just the way he did in college of education, Minna.
He said his administration will have the students as its focal area to ensure that they are employable at the end of their studies; this he said would be done by supporting entrepreneurship education which will make the products of the college employers of labour and not job seekers.
He aslo said that his administration will value honesty, openness and fairness because there was nothing more important in life than these virtues, and that they will value respect for individuals regardless of their background, religious and ethnic inclination, borrowing the statement of Nigeria’s President that he belongs to everybody and belongs to nobody.

Earlier in his remark, the Acting Provost of the College, Alh. Jibrin Garba Danwake said a lot of them were aware of what Prof. Faruq did for college of education, Minna and that it was their hope to see him replicate same gesture for them, saying they were happy to have him as their Provost.
He also informed the new Provost that the staff and students of the college were wonderful people and very hardworking, loyal and obedient, saying he enjoyed their support within the three months of his acting capacity and appealed to them to extend same support to the new Provost.
