Bolaji Adeyemo of Niger Tornadoes Fc

Bolaji Adeyemo’s 77th minute smashing header that hits the roof of the net was all that Niger Tornadoes needed to break the resilient Elkanemi Warriors on Matchday 33 of Nigeria Professional Football League at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, Sunday.

Although the game started on a bright note for the home side, they couldn’t utilize their opportunities as they wasted a bundle of them.

Elkanemi Warriors could have opened the scoring, but Mathias Samuel could not direct his shot to the post as it went inches out.

However, on resumption to the second half, Niger Tornadoes pushed Elkanemi to their half, Bashar Usman, the Niger Tornadoes youngster, tormented the defence of their visitors but he was wasteful in front of goal.

As pressure continued to mount on the Desert Warriors defenders, former Niger Tornadoes left back Samuel Tswanya was forced to commit a corner and the resultant kick brought in the only goal of the game.

Babawo Ibrahim took a short corner pass to Abdulkhadir Zango who in turn took the cross into the box of Elkanemi Warriors and the onrushing Niger Tornadoes midfielder threw all his body to the ball as he nodded in a crashing header to score, and left Michael George furious with his defenders poor marking.

With the result, Niger Tornadoes moved two places up on the log with 48 points while Elkanemi Warriors are now 6th on the log with 48 points.

Niger Tornadoes travel to Uyo to face Akwa United on Matchday 34 while Elkanemi Warriors will be host of FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
