An appeal has gone to Federal Government as well as the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) to reduce this year’s Hajj to make it affordable to the intending pilgrims.
An Islamic Scholar, Shiekh Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullahi, who is also the Chief Imam of Bosso Estate Juma’at Mosque, Minna, described as outrageous, the over N1.5m pronounced for the religious obligation.
The Chief Imam made this strong appeal while delivering his Juma’at sermon on Friday, stressing that the commission can revert to the payment of BTA in Saudi currency (Riyals) instead of paying them in Dollars.
He asserted that it has become very necessary because a lot of pilgrims from Nigeria suffered to get their BTA in Dollars at the holy land last year; affirming that this and some other reasons led to higher Hajj fare last year and this year.
On the lingering hate speech by the Arewa Youths, Dr Umar called on the Youths Forum to withdraw their declaration by promoting peaceful co-existence among all the ethnic nationalities in the country.
He said it pleased Allah to join us together, appealing to the elders from all parts of the country to call on their youths to order so that we can have peace in this country.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdullahi has advised Muslim youths that are under going training exercise for the recruitment into Nigeria Army and  any forces at this period of Ramadan to suspend their fasting for the duration of the training exercise so as to have strength and to withstand the training exercise because this is also very important to Islam.
He however drew the attention of those concerned that after the training exercise, they must repay all the number of the fasting they missed, as Islam is a simple religion.
He urged all Nigerians to continue to pray for Mr President’s sound health and for this county to live in peace, stability and for the revival of our economy.
