The Chairman of Niger State Football Association (NSFA), Comrade Ahmed Yusuf Fresh has said that the state FA will continue to provide an enabling environment for youths to have a future in the game of football both within and outside the state.

The NSFA Chairman stated this during the finals of inter clubs football competition organized by Rijau Local Government Football Council in honour of the council chairman, Alh. Garba Danbaba, played last Wednesday at Rijau.

He said it was their responsibility to develop the game and that can only be achieved if the young stars were encouraged to participate in the game by organizing championships at the grassroots level.

Comrade Yusuf Fresh also observed that the game of football is a unifying factor and that brought the youths together and also took them away from social vices. “Look at how youths turn out to watch this game. If the final was not played today only God knows where they would have been at this moment. I am happy with what I saw,” he said.

He charged the youths, especially young footballers to be focus in whatever field they have chosen for themselves, and also called on the private sector to come in and assist the football family in sponsoring various categories of tournaments in the country.

In his remark, the Chairman of Rijau Local Football Council, Garba Danbaba appreciated the presence of the state FA chairman at the finals, and promised to do his best to develop the game in the local government with a view to complement the efforts of the NSFA Chairman.

Samba United won the championship by a loan goal against Liability Fc, courtesy of Buhari Barau  few minutes after resumption into the second half of the game.

Trophies and various categories of prizes were presented to teams and individuals who were outstanding throughout the championship. The best goalkeeper, highest goal scorer, and the most valuable player in the tournament all received a cash prize of N5000 each.

The champions, Samba United went home with a cash prize of N100, 000, the second place winners, Liability Fc carted away with N70,000, while Turaki United who were the third place winners went home with N50,000. Officials who officiated the match received a token of N30, 000 and the Rijau local football council got N150,000,  all courtesy of the NSFA chairman.

The NFF board member who is equally the chairman of Referees Appointment Committee of NFF was earlier at the palace of the Sarkin Bauchi Rijau, Alh. Muhammadu Bello Gidiya, where he said as part of tradition of the football family, they pay homage to the traditional leader of any community they visited to seek their blessings.

In his response the Sarkin Bauchi Rijau who revealed that he had been hearing about Comrade Yusuf Fresh but have never met him before, appreciated the visit by the state FA chairman, saying the visit was a blessing to the entire Rijau people.

He observed that the game of football was very important in the integration of this country because it is one of the things that unites the people of this country, and prayed for the continued development of the game in the state and the country as a whole.
